The Sound Of Music Baltimore Theatre reviews
Sound of Music was wonderful!!!
The Fox always outshines itself when presenting any of its plays. The Sound of Music was no exception, it was fantastic!! We sat about halfway back on the left side of the theater. Our view was terrific. The cast did an excellent presentation. The orchestra was outstanding. We especially enjoyed the youngest child as did most of the audience. We did not like the song that was added to the lineup. It was not in the orginal and should not have been included. It did not add anything to the already wonderful Sound of Music that we all know and love. It was interesting to note that the audience sang along with many of the songs. Overall, a fun time was had by all.
The Sounds of Beautiful Music!
The theatre was filled with music that held us captive. The Sound of Music at the Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks, that we saw for a Saturday matinee, was a lovely "old fashioned" way to spend the day with my daughters. We were immediately drawn into the show in the beautiful opening where Maria sings with a voice that let's you know this production is of a top notch quality. The actors all delight you as they dance, sing and move amongst sets that are whimsical and charming. Many of us know the story of The Sound of Music, but don't miss the chance to be charmed by the outstanding voices that share some of our favorite songs in this charming presentation of an always favorite musical.
The Sound of Music filled my heart with Music!
The Sound of Music has always been a favorite of mine, and the chance to see it preformed professionally was one that I simply could not pass up.
The first thingone notices upon walking into the theatre is the set. It's is beautiful, filled with intricate detail that a great deal of time and effort obviously went into it. Secondly, the costumes are spot on and, for the most part, period accurate. I was especially impressed with the fact that the Sisters were in period/regionally accurate habits.
The acting, singing, and dancing is wonderful. The cast succeede at drawing the spectator in and fully suspending one's disbelief. Their Maria is superb. The way she portrays the character is energetic and truly captures the spirit of Maria.
Overall the show is wonderful and definitely worth seeing. My only qualms where a couple of times when the choreography seemed a bit awkward and the few times one of the teenaged actresses was reaching for a higher note, and missed it.
Sound of Music was fantastic!!!
This was hands down one of the best theatrical performances I had ever seen! First, the Drury Theatre was an excellent venue - this was the first time for me at this theater and I was extremely impressed, so much so, that we are going to become subscription subscribers. Next, the stage settings were fabulous, as was the lighting and the orchestra. Last, the cast was superb! How they can pull off such outstanding performances time after time, I have no idea. I truly felt that Maria and the Captain were falling in love - the singing and acting were unbeatable. I was surprised by the number of children in the audience and had a thought that they were going to interrupt the performance at some point, but the story held their attention throughout and not a peep was heard. If I could, I would see it a second time but with the first viewing being so magical, there really is no need!
